M2RIC
Aims/Purpose: This CyFoS M2RIC will provide advice and directions to the CyFoS Executive Committee on issues relevant to research & innovation (R&I) for the Blue Economy at national regional and international level. When necessary, it will also cooperate with the rest of the Foundation’s working committees to ensure that any horizontal issues are considered in the work of those committees. In addition, the M2RIC is entitled to represent CyFoS in matters relevant to research and innovation for the Blue Economy towards third parties.

Membership: The Committee will comprise of representatives of CyFoS Members.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Developing proposals for the creation, updating and enhancement of national, regional and international strategies and policies in the areas of marine and maritime R&I.

Collecting and sharing marine and maritime R&I-related data with the other CyFoS working committees as well as with national, regional and international authorities, contributing to informed decision and policymaking.

Monitoring the design and implementation of national, regional and EU strategies and policies in the areas of marine and maritime R&I and suggesting corrective actions where necessary.

Fostering cooperation with local, national, regional, and international authorities, academic and research institutions, businesses and clusters for promoting and developing marine and maritime R&I initiatives and projects as well as entrepreneurship support activities in the marine and maritime sector.

Promoting funding and investments in support of marine and maritime R&I activities, initiatives and projects and infrastructure development for the marine and maritime sector at national and regional level by capitalising on relevant national, EU and international funding programs and mechanisms.

Encouraging public-private partnerships in marine and maritime R&I and the development of applied solutions for the marine and maritime sector.

Encouraging the creation of a critical mass of researchers in the marine and maritime sector, by contributing to the creation and promotion of research mobility schemes at national, regional, EU and international level.
